BSP offer 100% biodegradable packaging to beat the Latte Levy

Whilst disposable coffee cups are dominating the news, we thought it would be a good time to remind the world that all of B Smith Packaging’s (BSP) paper cups are 100% biodegradable.

It has been announced that MPs are calling upon the government to introduce a 25p ‘latte levy’ on disposable coffee cups and a total ban unless recycling improves. Currently, in the UK there are only three recycling facilities that can process and recycle commonly found disposable coffee cups. This is due to a lot of disposable cups being made from cardboard with a tightly bonded Polyethylene liner, which is difficult to remove and means they are not accepted by paper mills.

B Smith Packaging recognised this fault in the disposable cup market and have employed an eco-friendly alternative. B Smith is proud to promote its range of polylactide (PLA) coated paper cups which are totally biodegradable. Suitable for the full spectrum of takeaway beverages, the minimum order quantity is 1,000 with a range of standard sizes available.

However you use disposable coffee cups, get in touch with BSP to convert to a 100% biodegradable packaging solution and avoid getting hit with the ‘latte levy’. To discuss this further, please give us a call on 01905 757 124 or click here to use the contact form.
